Collabo Blog (Avery & Payton)

Meghan is out enjoying the beautiful London day. She had some shopping to do so that she could prepare for the new baby. So she thought while she had some time off from working and Harry was away doing an engagement she would take advantage of the free time that she had.

Erina couldn't put her finger on what had happened, one second she was in her mansion, the next she was in a, seemingly, new world. She had quickly put her anxiety behind her, instead focusing on the fact that odd ocurancess were normal in the Joestar household. She had planned on figuring a way back by herself, that is until she saw another woman, in close proximity, who seemed to know what she was doing. Erina took a deep breath, she never was the most forward person, but this seemed like a good enough situation to be a bit abrasive. She took a few steps forward, her hand lightly tapping on the other woman's shoulder.

Meghan: She turns around as she felt someone touch her shoulder “Oh hello” she says with a kind smile

Erina: She returned the smile “Excuse me, but where are we?” she tilted her head slightly, the question itself was simple, yet sounded absurd as she said it aloud.
Meghan: “We are in downtown London.” The question seemed odd to Meghan but she didn’t want to seem rude the woman was obviously confused.
Erina: “Downtown London-?” she repeated, an almost crestfallen expression replaced her smile. London? Ah, but if we are still in London why does it look so different? She sighed.
Meghan: “Yes Downtown London.” Meghan adjusts the bag that she was holding on her arm.
Erina: Erina stopped herself from blurting out her immediate thoughts, instead deciding to look into the situation itself a bit more. She needed to ask the right questions in order to figure out the situation. Erina stood up a bit taller, “what year is it?” this question sounded more aloof than the last one, who did not know the year?
Meghan: “It’s 2019.” Meghan says in a very calm but casual tone like she wanted to know more about this person.
Erina: 2019? 2019- “Good heavens!” Erina exclaimed, quickly becoming flustered in the situation. It's not 2019, it's not even 1919- its supposed to be 1887!
Meghan: “Is something wrong?” Her voice was concerned, but also very surprised in the woman’s response.
Erina: By god yes- its the wrong year-” she stopped mid sentence. How would this sound to someone in the time? Absurd, it would sound absurd. She sighed, pressing her palms against her sides.
Meghan: “The wrong year? I’m not sure I understand what you mean.” Meghan was genuinely confused. She wasn’t sure at all what this person meant that this was the wrong year nothing seemed peculiar to her. In her mind it was just an average day.
Erina: Her face quickly flushed- this woman thought she was crazy. “Ah- nothing, I just seem to be a bit confused, that's all!” She put on her best reassuring smile, in hope that she could reassure herself. It must be a dream. Out of all the odd occurrences she had lived through, this one had to take the cake.

This is an exert from a scene that we wrote together.

Kate's Visit To Family Action

On January 22 Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge visited Family Action in Lewishham, England. During that visit she helped launch their National Help Line so families who need it can talk about any problems that they might be having. Through the work that Kate has been doing she has helped families and children who are dealing with mental health issues. One of the main focuses of the charity she visited is to support families that suffer with poverty, disadvantage, or social isolation across the UK. When Kate visited the charity she was very approachable talking to parents and their children. Showing people that even though she is a royal she also is a mother herself so she can relate to that situation as well. The connection that she had with people shows that even though she lives a very different life than the people she was around she still can feel the struggle of the people that she was talking with. Even with the outfit that she wore to the engagement made a public statement. She wore a dark green dress from Beulah, which helps create jobs for vulnerable women. With her work this year we can see that early years and families are one of her biggest focuses. Through her work we can also see her love for the outdoors she was a co-designer for the "back to nature" garden for the Chelsea Flower Show she previewed the garden during a visit to a neighborhood garden in Islington. She also has an interest in textile manufacturing this was outlined with her visit to the Royal Opera House costume department, she will be exploring this interest in the upcoming months.

Interdisciplinary Text

One thing that went into Meghan Markle's work as an actor was creating the character in which she was portraying. That really came into play with her work as Rachel Zane on "Suits" since the character was really based on her and her personality. When the writers and directors were creating the character they looked at things which reflected her as a person. Such as taking that she had a exquisite palate and interest in fine foods and adding that to a trait of her character. The way she dressed also showed up in how her character dressed. When you look at her fashion sense it was very similar to what Rachel wore in the series. Even  her name and family background added to creating  Rachel. Since Meghan's first name is Rachel and she has a white father and a black mother. I feel when you are creating a character or portraying a specific role it is very important to relate to the character so you can make it your own. Whether you are writing or acting being able to relate to your character is the best way to able to  bring a character to life. With Meghan's role she was able to bring the character of Rachel to life so that people could relate to her. One of the best thing about writing is you can express yourself through the characters or the descriptions of the characters. When you are writing one of the best thing is researching so that you have knowledge  to use in your work. So if you are writing about a  certain time period or situation you can have the right information to prevent having things that are not accurate with what you are writing about.

Meghan: A Hollywood Princess Critique

Recently I have been reading the book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess by: Andrew Morton and overall I've thoroughly enjoyed the book. Not only does the book talk about her home life, but also her work that she's done with charities. One thing I like about how it's written is that it doesn't just glorify or praise Meghan for the work that she's done or her talent. It goes into detail about how she's had several failed auditions as an actress and had to work hard to get the opportunities that she has had. With some of the work she's done it mentions that she's had minor roles in movies, TV shows, and commercials. One of the gigs that she had was a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal. Which even though it was a decent paying job it was not one of the finest things that Meghan did. The book talks about had she had to wear revealing clothes in a cold studio while working long hours. In the book it also discusses Meghan getting the role as paralegal Rachel Zane on the show Suits. One of the things I find interesting about Meghan getting the role is that she thought that she completely bombed her audition for the show. Even though she was the exact person filmmakers were looking for when casting the role. In the show they actually personalized some of the things about the character into things similar to Meghan such as her being a foodie and having biracial parents. One thing that I wish could be changed is having the pictures of Meghan's early life put first in the sections of pictures that are in the book. Instead of having the pictures of her career in the front since having the older pictures first because it would make more chronological sense. With everything combined though I love the book and I think that it's very informative.
